Norway’s Windy Boats has collaborated with world renowned yacht designer Ed Dubois on a new tender suitable for superyachts, the 16.10-metre Windy T52 Super Tender. Speed, style and comfort are the Replica Timberland watches words for the project, which aims for a seamless transition from yacht to shore. Triple IPS 600 Volvo Penta diesel engines give the T52 an impressive top speed of 46 knots, and a cruising speed of 40 knots, along with perfect manoeuvrability and stability at low speeds courtesy of Volvo’s joystick control.With sleek, rakish lines and a 4.5-metre beam, the cockpit offers generous seating including three separate racing chairs at the helm and three standing sports chairs with bimini shade. The open, walk-around teak deck also features a raised foredeck, and additional seating, sun lounger and hydraulic bathing ladder aft – perfect for race spectating, swimming or picnicking at anchorage. A head with shower is located below decks, along with a double berth. The first T52, with a range of 450 – 480 miles, is expected to be ready for sea trials by June.
A cool Replica Timberland watches brand almost totally unknown in the US is Emile Pequignet – though I still am not quite sure how to pronounce it. The brand offers beautiful and unique in-house made movements, actually at prices which are comparatively reasonable. Many of the pieces have an interesting combination of styles that feel like a successful mixture of elements from popular brand each known for their “classic” looking watches. New for 2010 is this Rue Royal calendar watch. The elegant dial had the time, month, date, moon phase indicator, subsidiary seconds dial, and a power reserve indicator. Not only that, but the Emile Pequignet in-house made movement is an automatic. A lot of information laid out in an attractive manner on a classic, almost Breguet-style dial.Case is 42mm wide in steel – though the brand does offer many higher-end pieces, as well as more modern looking sport-style watches. The Rue Royal watch case has a stylized looking case with decorative lugs and a soft curvature to the case sides. Nothing incredibly unique, but nicely done. I do appreciate the design and decoration of the movement – which Emile Pequignet does very competently. The dial indicators feature blued steel hands and some pleasant guilloche engraving. Price for the watch is $9,500 – which is a relatively good value given the design, in-house movement, and complications.
